"English B1.1" is a general English course at intermediate level (level A2+ of the CEFR). It provides opportunities to practise all four language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) as well as grammar and vocabulary.
Intended learning outcomes
The courses "English B1.1" and "English B1.2" successively prepare students for the attainment of level B1 of the CEFR.
Learners at level B1 are able to
- understand the main points of clear standard speech on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, etc.
- understand texts that consist mainly of high frequency everyday language
- enter unprepared into conversation on topics that are familiar, of personal interest or pertinent to everyday life (e.g. family, hobbies, work, travel and current events)
- connect phrases in a simple way in order to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions
- briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans
- write straightforward connected text on familiar topics or those of personal interest.
