- students who wish to improve their English in the semester break
- applicants to JLU who need IELTS to enroll for a degree course at the Department of English
- students who need IELTS for applications at other universities
- students who plan to take a standardized English exam for work or internships
Course contents:
This course is designed for students who want to receive concentrated English language instruction and practice, as well as participants who are planning to take the IELTS academic language test (target level: IELTS 6.0 and above).
Using materials specifically designed for IELTS preparation, we will focus on reading, writing, listening and speaking skills through tasks similar to those included in the IELTS exam.
We will also revise the most important grammatical structures and do extensive vocabulary work. In addition to language skills, participants will also acquire useful reading and listening strategies and general exam skills which are essential for a good IELTS result. JLU students taking the course for AfK credits will be expected to take a practice exam (with written and oral components) at the end of the course.
Admission requirements:
- a score of at least 60 points in the ZfbK online placement test, or
- successful completion of an English B2.2, B2.3, B2.4 or C1 course at the ZfbK
- external documentation (such as a course certificate or placement test) with a stated CEFR level above B1+
